Narrow cobbled streets surrounded by tastefully restored houses of various eras, offer a pleasant stroll. On the borders of the old city there are temples, mosques, youth centers where cultural events take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:25px\"><strong>Archaeological Museum of Chania<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"mailto:efacha@culture.gr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">efacha@culture.gr<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Archaeological Museum of Chania is in Chalepa, a historic suburb in Chania, housed in an iconic building constituting a landmark for the whole city. The museum&#8217;s permanent collection developed in three main halls on the ground floor and one more on the first floor, presenting the wealth of archaeological material that has been retrieved from the periphery of Chania through the course of time.<br>The Archaeological Museum of Chania is full of the wonderful works of the ancient inhabitants of the Prefecture of Chania from the third millennium before Christ. Of particular interest are the textiles and embroidery in the museum which are creations of its founders and their students. These are replicas of rare embroidery that they managed to gather from all over Crete. At the entrance of this Fortress it is situated the Maritime Museum of Crete, which was founded in order to house and perceive the Greek Maritime Traditions and those of Crete&#8217;s as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" style=\"font-size:25px\"><strong>The Gouverneto Monastery<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gouverneto Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Crete, which has been built in 1537 and located on the Akrotiri peninsula, approximately 4km from the Agia Triada Monastery or 19km north of Chania. The road is good for the most part and you will find several signs pointing to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity (but not the Monastery of Gouverneto). Taking this road, you will reach Agia Triada, where you will see the signs for Gouverneto Monastery.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"788\" height=\"591\" src=\"https:\/\/elena-almirida.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-69.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8748\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elena-almirida.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-69.png 788w, https:\/\/elena-almirida.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-69-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/elena-almirida.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/image-69-768x576.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 788px) 100vw, 788px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You will reach the Monastery through an almost biblical and wild landscape, with rocks, wild olives and several turns. Officially, the monastery is closed on Wednesdays and Fridays, while on Monday &#8211; Tuesday &#8211; Thursday the opening hours are 9 &#8211; 12 and 5 pm &#8211; 7 pm. . On weekends, the opening hours are 9 am &#8211; 11 am and 5 pm &#8211; 8 pm. As for your entrance to Gouverneto Monastery, remember the following: Entry is prohibited to those wearing shorts, swimwear and sleeveless tops.
